FAQs
How do I apply for a position?
Please e-mail a cover letter and resume to lindsay@citykidscamp.org.
Is it okay to call the City Kids office?
Please understand that we get an overwhelming number of resumes and questions. We appreciate enthusiastic, interested workers. However, because we have a very small year-round staff we are unable to accept phone calls from applicants. Please refer to our web site for an in-depth review of our programs.
After I submit my resume, will I get a response?
Due to the high number of applicants we are unable to respond to everyone. If we choose to pursue an applicant, we first e-mail perspective employees and then we follow with a phone interview if appropriate. Generally, if you do not hear from us within two weeks of your initial email, we are not considering your application. You may wish to send a second email to check on the status of your application.
How long is the hiring process?
We hire on a rolling basis, interviewing until all positions are full. Once the initial interview is complete, we gather references, perform a background check, and then negotiate a contract. The process can take 4-8 weeks from the time you submit your resume because we are interviewing multiple candidates and we often have to wait for references and background checks to be completed.
I can only work for part of the summer, should I apply?
Most of our staff is hired for at least ten weeks. We offer just a few 8-week and 11-week positions.
I am interested in year-round work, should I apply?
At this time, all available position are for full-time summer employment requiring residency on our ranch in Jackson, Wyoming.
Do you hire high school students or recent high school graduates?
No, we have a job-training program for our members who are in high school. Because of the challenges our jobs present and the need for extensive outdoor skills, the majority of our staff are college students, college graduates, and graduate students.
Do you hire non-residents?
No, we do not hire anyone without U.S. residency or a current, relevant work visa.
Do you accept interns?
Yes, we are willing to supervise internships during the summer only.
